India – Government and Policy
- Mission for Pulses: The government has developed a major plan called the Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses. The government will spend Rs 11,440 crore on this and it will run for 6 years. Its aim is that by 2030-31, India should become very strong in producing pulses on its own and should not have to import them from outside.
- MSP for Rabi Crops: The government has increased the price of Rabi crops for 2026–27, which is called MSP. The price of wheat has increased the most, so that farmers get more money and food remains safe in the country.
- Private Sector in Monuments: Till now only ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) used to take care of the monuments, but now the government has made a rule that private companies can also help so that the old heritage places can be saved from further damage.
- Bihar Women Scheme: Before the elections in Bihar, the government launched a scheme, Mahila Rojgar Yojana, in which Rs 10,000 were given to 25 lakh women, so that they could get support to start their own small business.
- UPSC Centenary: UPSC (which conducts the major exam to become IAS-IPS) has completed its 100 years. This was a big celebration.
- E-Waste Report: A report of 2025 revealed that India is the third largest producer of e-waste in the world. We have generated 2.2 million tonnes of e-waste, but most of it is still recycled by unorganised people, which is not safe.
- India–EFTA Trade Pact: India signed a trade agreement with EFTA, which promises investment of $100 billion. This will increase business and trade.
Defense and Security
- Combined Commanders’ Conference: The Prime Minister said that the army should develop a single, unified plan instead of separate plans so that it is fully prepared in times of war.
- Exercise Drone Kavach: Army and ITBP practiced drone and counter-drone in Arunachal Pradesh. This will tell you how to stop the enemy drone.
- Sir Creek Tension: When Pakistan increased its army near Sir Creek, India’s Defense Minister gave them a strict warning and reminded them of their earlier defeat.
- AI-GIS Command: BSF created a new system in which both Artificial Intelligence and GIS were combined. This will help the army in taking fast decisions.
International Affairs
- Hamas Hostage Proposal: Hamas said it would accept the US proposal with a few conditions, including Israel’s release of hostages.
- Russia–Ukraine Talks: Russia and Ukraine are again sitting in Geneva and talking about peace.
- Typhoon Bualoi: A major typhoon struck Vietnam, killing 36 people and causing extensive damage to agriculture.
- ICAO Elections: India again became a member of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
- Health Regulations: A new rule came in the International Health Regulations in which the name of Pandemic Emergency was added and it was said that every country will have to create its own IHR authority.
Other Developments
- Road Safety: In 2023, there were more than 4.6 lakh road accidents in India, claiming 1.7 lakh lives. This is a big problem.
- Snow Leopard Survey: Himachal Pradesh became the first state to complete the snow leopard population survey.
- Dugong Reserve: India’s first Dugong Reserve got recognition from IUCN.
